Founded by John P. Hanley in 1974, Lifespring went on to become one of the preeminent training and development leaders in the world. Lifespring's Basic Training, Advanced Course, and Leadership Program are the consensus gold-standard of open-enrollment training programs for the general public. When an entrepreneur responds to a personal calling to create their own local, educational training center, they often turn to the Lifespring core curriculum and Lifespring-trained trainers as their training source. Since Lifespring, Inc.'s closing in 2000, many talented trainers and business owners stepped into the void to continue the work of offering transformational training for the general public. Dozens upon dozens of local educational centers around the world today offer a form of the Lifespring curriculum under a variety of different brand names. John Hanley has chosen to allow the widespread use of the curriculum while serving as a consultant and coach for a select clientele. John Hanley has spent much of the last decade training a new cadre of trainers in China, Latin America, and the United States. In 2008 he embarked, with his son (John Jr.) on a research and development overhaul of the curriculum. In an effort to standardize the curriculum and update the material to more fully match the challenges of today's adult population, the Hanley's have rewritten the training course guides for the Basic, the Advanced, and the Leadership Program. The New Basic and Advanced manuals were first introduced in 2009 and the New Leadership Program manual debuts in 2010. A select world-wide team of trainers are paying a yearly fee to license the Intellectual Property contained in the new manuals. While the Hanley's continue to honor and appreciate the work of all Lifespring-trained trainers, this web-page is set up to recognize and acknowledge the men and women who have invested the time and finances to stay on what we like to believe is the cutting edge of transformational training. In addition to leasing the manuals the licensed trainers are welcomed into an integrated training community and have access to ongoing support and coaching from the Hanley's. We make a distinction between "licensed" and "certified". A licensed trainer has purchased the temporary rights to the material and received a thorough training orientation on the material. In most cases the licensed trainer has completed John Hanley's Trainer Academy and further long-term coaching from each of the Hanley's. A certified trainer, with regard to this page, is certified specifically to lead the new version of the training, either the Basic, Advanced, or Leadership Program. Certification is given in the name of John P. Hanley and is representative of training mastery of the specific training in question. Certain non-certified trainers with a particular level of experience are authorized by John Hanley to lead the New Version of the training with certification pending and dependent on demonstrated mastery.
